“I’ve produced dozens of documentary films, and seen hundreds of them, but FLOWING GRASSES absolutely stands out as unique. It is an intensely personal portrait of a man who is not only an artist, but also a philosopher. He opens himself up in an extraordinarily intimate way, he reveals the primal urges that have informed his art, and he helps us understand that there is something important to learn from art, from artists, and from the elixir of freedom that eventually captivates every artist, and should ideally captivate every human being.” - Stewart Cheifet, 2009 - Cheifet is a world-renowned TV producer who has created programming for public television and international networks for over 25 years.
This film is an artistic statement about ART – its nature, and its significance in a world “redesigned”. The philosophy and storyline are developed through the presentation of the life, times, and works of American artist, Dean Howell. It uses the “personal story” of Howell – as a metaphor – to project the “global story” of ART.
