Exhibition Summary

Dean Howell has averaged one exhibition per year since 1963, when he first showed in the Student Exhibition at Miami University. In that same year he exhibited in the “All Ohio”, juried exhibition at the Dayton Art Institute. Since that time, he has shown in commercial galleries, university galleries, studios, and museums across the country — often serving as Artist in Residence concurrently with the exhibitions. He is prolific in Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture, and has shown with some of the leading modern artists, including: Warhol, Estes, Neel, Chamberlin, Thiebaud, and Martin. In January 2005, his BIG HEAD series was featured in an exhibition entitled, “ABOUT THE FACE” at the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts; he also showed there in a bronze exhibition entitled “EXPLORATIONS IN BRONZE: DEGAS AND NEW MEXICO SCULPTORS.” Concurrently, from January-March 2005 — one sculpture of his BIG HEAD series was also featured in the new, gallery complex at the Albuquerque Museum. In the last several years, he has shown at Shidoni Foundry and Art Gallery, Moxley, DeBilizan, and Houshang galleries in Santa Fe, and the Allan Stone Gallery in New York City.
